Berkeley Ranks 3rd Among US News’ 2015 ‘Best Global Universities’

UC Berkeley was rated the No. 3 global university in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings. Topping the annual list were Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, while Stanford and Great Britain’s University of Oxford rounded out the top five behind Berkeley.

The “Best Global Universities” rankings focus on institutions’ research overall. The methodology weighs factors that measure a university’s global and regional reputation, academic research performance using bibliometric indicators, and school-level data on faculty and Ph.D. graduates. While U.S. News has been ranking colleges for 30 years, the 2015 rankings are its first evaluation of higher-education institutions worldwide.
