HomeAdvisor administered the Home Happiness Survey during the spring of 2016 through the Trifecta Research Group, surveying nearly 18,000 homeowners coast to coast in 36 U.S metro areas. This “first-of-its-kind” survey allowed homeowners from all across the country to weigh in on how their overall happiness is influenced by where they live and also identify the most important factors that residents look for.
San Francisco dominated the city charts along with California taking 1st place out of the 50 states.
Although many agreed that homes may not be as affordable as other areas (37% affordable), the majority were happy about their homes layout/size with over 77% of all homes being renovated and 54% having adequate storage. Other factors also influenced the city’s score such as the diversity, safety, neighborhood, and accessibility.
