Here’s some news that’ll surprise anyone who rides BART or Muni regularly: both systems are the best public transit in the state, based on ridership, access to amenities, and walkability.
At least, that’s the findings of a new study from UC Berkeley and the nonprofit research group Next 10. The report measures five regional transit systems — L.A., San Diego, Sacramento, Santa Clara, and San Francisco.
Muni scores a B overall, with the best station in California being Church and Market (which scores A+). Other high-scoring stations include Church and 14th, Church and 16th, Market and 7th, and Market and New Montgomery.
