Vital Signs: Emissions Fall Even as Economy Soars

As the Bay Area continues to be a leader in economic growth, data shows that the region is leading in environmentalism as well.

Vital Signs Emissions Fall


From years 2010-2015, the region saw an 18% increase in the number of jobs and 22% surge in gross regional product. With this indicating a thriving economy, environmental indicators released by the Vita Sign initiative shows that this area is also turning greener. Total green house gas emission in the Bay Area was held steady and per capital emissions fell by 6%.

Despite the growth in population and the economy: vehicles and miles traveled into and from region, San Francisco continues to have one of the lowest ozone concentrate in the Bay Area.
