What’s the Vision for Bay Area Growth?

A vision for the Bay Area’s future.  Plan Bay Area is a blueprint for growth that envisions housing that brings the workforce closer to transit and jobs. Now the plan’s feasilibility is being debated.

How will we see the Bay Area in 2040? A sprawling metropolis or a collection of compact urban area interconnected by transit and touching upon islands of green space? Who will be able to live and work here? How many will call the Bay Area home?

These are the kinds of questions regional agencies have been working to answer in the long process of developing a new 25-year vision to guide Bay Area planning and development and, as required by state law, reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

In Friday’s Open Forum, we present two views: one from a Bay Area builder, the other from an alliance that seeks to contain sprawl.
